to fund the research that cures A-T!

    Run4Stella!
In October, Mary Rountree and Daphne Carr will run the Chicago Marathon to raise money for A-T Children’s Project on Team STELLA.

Stella Wesnor is an eleven year old fifth grade student at Vestavia Central. Mary was her second and third grade teacher at Vestavia West.

Stella has ataxia-telangiectasia (A-T) which is a rare genetic disease that attacks in early childhood, causing the combined symptoms of cerebral palsy, cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy, immune deficiencies, and cancer.

Most children with A-T are unable to walk by age ten and often do not survive their teens.

Mary and Daphne are both very committed to this cause and 26.2 mile run. Any donation, regardless of size, would be most appreciated.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact Mary at maryrountree@bellsouth.net or Daphne at daphcar@aol.com.

Thank you for joining our team to help Stella and many other children with A-T.

"Most futures hold great hope...These children are hoping for a future." ATCP

    What is A-T?
Imagine a disease that combines the worst symptoms of muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, cystic fibrosis, immune deficiencies, and cancer. Children with A-T are usually confined to wheelchairs by age 10 and often do not survive their teens. Because A-T is a multi-system disease, scientists believe that A-T research will help more prevalent diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, AIDS, and cancer.

9/18/2009Hi Jill, I am so glad that Daphne told me about you and your daughter. I remember you so well and wanted to say hello. Your daughter is adorable and Daphne said that you also have a son. I am glad to hear that you are now teaching preschoolers. I remember coming to your classroom at Shades Mountain. Please know that we are proud to support Stella! Take care, Jeanie BoxJeanie Box
