Help us find a cure or life-improving therapies for A-T (ataxia-telangiectasia).
IT’S ON!
Ataxia-telangiectasia, or “A-T,” is a progressive, degenerative disease that affects a startling variety of body systems. Children with A-T appear normal at birth, and the first signs of the disease usually appear during the second year of life. These first signs are usually a “wobbly” lack of balance and slurred speech caused by “ataxia,” which means a lack of muscle control.
This disease, which has also been described as a combination of muscular distrophy and cancer, frankly sucks. Nobody should have to live with diseases like these, but my friends Tim and Rocco’s friend Joe does, so let’s raise some money to help him! I am all healthy and stuff now, so I should give a little back and help those who are not as fortunate as me in health.
What is A-T?
Imagine a disease that combines the worst symptoms of muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, cystic fibrosis, immune deficiencies, and cancer. Children with A-T are usually confined to wheelchairs by age 10 and often do not survive their teens. Because A-T is a multi-system disease, scientists believe that A-T research will help more prevalent diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, AIDS, and cancer.

| | The A-T Children's Project is a non-profit organization that raises funds to support and coordinate first-rate biomedical research projects, scientific conferences and a clinical center aimed at finding a cure or life-improving therapies for ataxia-telangiectasia, a lethal genetic disease that attacks children, causing progressive loss of muscle control, immune system problems, and a strikingly high rate of cancer, especially leukemia and lymphoma.
